Alot About Nothing

So to begin I have to say that I am pretty much the most pathetic blogger on the face of the planet because I hardly ever post. But today I felt the need to. Today a good friend of mine that I havent seen for a while came over with her little boy. At times I felt at a loss as to what to say to her. She is a 19 year old single mother who has no job and is struggling to make it on her own. At one point she expressed to me that she feels like she doesn't really know her place in the world and who she is exactly. I realized how easy it is for us as mothers to feel lost and feel like you don't have an identity. Your world is consumed with baby poop, fussiness, cheerios and ever-lasting fight for control over naps. I often times find myself in the same situation as my friend, feeling like my life as an individual is blurred, but then I realize that being a mom and wife is my identity right now and God has blessed me with these gifts. I find more of who I am through my daughter than I ever did on my own. I feel like she makes me a better individual, and teaches me more about myself every day. However, I have never been a single mother and I hope to never be one. I have a lot of respect for my friend for doing this on her own, but what do I say to encourage her? what advice do I give to a single mother in a situation that I have never been in?

Thanks for finally getting me the link to your blog! I fed your fish. Here's a super photo blog I think you'd get a kick out of it.

I don't think you could say anything better to her than what you just stated about yourself being a mom on this post right here! Yes, being a mom has it's hard days, but it is a GIFT from God; and there's nothing wrong with being called "just a mom"! (As you already know!) Oh, and welcome to Katie's thoughts, Ami! :o)
